Press release: Hydrogen filling stations and vehicles in West Denmark summer 2008
25.02.2008

During sommer 2008 several hydrogen filling stations together with fuel cell hybrid vehicles will be put in operation in West Denmark. The project is called "Hydrogen Link West Denmark" and is a public private partnership project between more than 20 various actors on development and pilot testing of hydrogen filling stations and fuel cell hybrid vehicles in a number of West Danish cities with a total budget of more than $2.5 million (€1.8)

The project was initiated in April 2006 through a number of pre-studies in the cities of Hvide Sande, Holstebro and Ringkøbing around the possibilities for establishing hydrogen filling stations and using fuel cell hybrid vehicles in the cities. The Hydrogen Link West Denmark project was developed on basis of the recommendations of the pre-studies in all of the cities thus securing collaboration across the cities on the development and testing efforts.

In the Hydrogen Link West Denmark project a number of filling stations will be established at fuel cell hybrid vehicle end-users in the various cities. Hydrogen is produced centrally in the city of Holstebro and is distributed by truck to each of the filling stations in the cities. The hydrogen production based on wind power and the production plant is operated by a local energy company. Seven various fuel cell hybrid vehicles will be put in operation in the cities at the various end-users, among these the world’s largest wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S.

The hydrogen and fuel cell technology in the project is developed and supplied by H2 Logic A/S. The project is financed by all the participating companies and organisations, among these, the Danish Energy Agency, Vestas Wind Systems A/S and H2 Logic A/S.

Hydrogen Link West Denmark opens during summer 2008
